Frequently asked questions?
Congratulations on your engagement, and welcome to Mia Song Couture. The following are a few answers to common questions to help you understand the exciting process. We hope that these answers should give you a general idea of what to expect during the consultation for your gown.
When should I start looking for my dress?
This honestly depends on the individual but we do strongly suggest that you don’t view too many styles of gowns before you make a decision as it can lead to confusion and too many options. Use our top tips to help guide you and be sure that you have a strong brief and budget in mind and know what designs will suit you the best.
However, if you have already purchased a gown, we can do alterations to it to make it fit your shape perfectly. It takes 7 months in advance to plan your wedding day.
How do Bridal appointments work?
At Mia Song Couture, we believe the process of designing your special gown should be fun and relaxed. We want to include you in designing your best style. We will help you to make a decision that sets the desire for your wedding day and expresses your personal style.
Remember to focus on the style, fabric, colour and details when making your choice to find the connection that is often felt with the dress.
What should I bring to my appointment?
We suggest you wear nude, seamless undergarments and if weight loss is desired before the wedding day, control underwear such as spandex is good to wear. Strapless bras aren’t essential but it can help. Feel free to bring a pair of shoes for you to use.
Our mission is to help brides look and feel more beautiful – to be desired. On your first visit you can use pictures from magazines and/or our website for some ideas or use the experience of our designer for your special day or any other important occasions in your life.
Who should I bring with me to my appointment?
Many brides will have their first consultation on their own and return to show their favourite designs to their family. We suggest a maximum of 2 guests. If too many opinions are offered, it can create confusion. Please remind your friends and family that you may already have a set idea and vision of how you see yourself on your wedding day.
Remember this is her day and she needs your love and support in finding a gown that will express her unique personality and beauty.
What does “Couture” actually mean?
A couture gown is made-to-order and doesn’t exist prior to ordering. Often it’s made to a ‘standard size’ and then altered to fit.
A made-to-measure option is also available. This is at an extra cost.
We will give you a full couture service for your own dream wedding gown that suits your body’s shape.
Our preferred time is 6-8 months which includes the dress being designed especially for you that has you in mind, made, adjusted if necessary and delivered.
